Dermatology

The Dermatology Department at South Shore Medical Center in Norwell provides a broad range of medical services, including skin cancer screenings, advanced new biologic treatments for psoriasis (Enbrel, Humira) and eczema, customized skin care for acne and rosacea and a pioneering program for skin problems in pregnancy. We also offer an extensive Patch Test for patients who may have allergic contact dermatitis, utilizing the TRUE test as well as a large panel of cosmetic and other allergens.

We perform general dermatologic surgery, including removal of benign lesions (moles, cysts, lipomas, hemangiomas) and malignant skin tumors, cryosurgery, electrosurgery, and advanced wound reconstruction with skin flaps and grafts. In addition, we perform nail surgery, including nail biopsies, correction of deformed and ingrown nails, excision of nail and nail matrix (matricectomy) and removal of abnormal nails (nail avulsion). Furthermore, our Dermatology Department offers light therapy (Phototherapy), which is described below, as well as cosmetic consultations and treatments (outlined below) and the latest skin care rejuvenation treatments coupled with personalized services.

Light Therapy (Phototherapy)

The Dermatology Department offers light therapy for patients with a various skin diseases, including among others psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo. We utilize the most up to date devices that transmit narrow band ultraviolet light B (UVB) to the entire body (Daavlin 3 series), hands and feet only (Daavlin M series) or scalp only. The light treatments are usually administered two to three times a week and are typically covered by insurance.
