When appropriate, please call us before going to the hospital emergency room; it may save you time and money. Contact us through our main number (781-878-5200); you may want to enter this phone number into your cell phone so you have it available at all times.

Pediatric Appointment Scheduling

You can now book your child's physical exams up to one year in advance which eliminates the need for month-by-month reminder cards. We will send you a reminder call 30 days before your child's physical exam and again three days prior...because we know how busy life can be with children!

If your child is due for a well visit within the next 12 months and you have not yet scheduled an appointment, please call the Pediatric Secretaries at 781-261-4409 at your earliest convenience.

Diabetes Passport Program

South Shore Medical Center is pleased to offer a Diabetes Passport Program for our patients who are living with diabetes. Speak with your primary care provider about our DIABETES PASSPORT checklist to help you stay healthy with diabetes. As a diabetic you should have:

checklist
  • Dilated retinal eye exam once a year
  • Office visits with weight and blood pressure check twice a year and foot exam once a year
  • Lab appointment at least twice a year, including two HgA1c (a long-term measure of your blood sugar), one LDL (bad cholesterol), and one microalbumin (a test for your kidneys).

Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, kidney disease/failure and amputations. Decreasing your HgA1c by 1% toward the goal of 7% will reduce your risk of eye and kidney complications by 35%!! (ADA – UKPDS study results)

*Patients who have a completed passport by December 31, 2011 will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win one of the twenty $250 supermarket/pharmacy gift cards.
